“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31)
‘…if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved…”Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved”‘ (Romans 10:9-13)
A short graphical overview of Christian Doctrine: Two Ways to Live, The Choice We All Face
You are Guilty
Do you know Christ? In God’s sight, if you are outside of Christ, you already stand guilty. There is no hope of pardon for you as you are. You have broken God’s law, and deep in your heart you hate God. You do not merely break his law outwardly — you break it in your heart. Jesus Christ said, That which comes out of the man, that defiles the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders. . . (Mark 7:20-23) You may not have physically murdered anyone but you have hated someone, and that is murder in God’s sight. The God before whom you stand will by no means clear the guilty. (Exodus 34:7)
If you have not been born again, God says you have a carnal mind. You hate God, because the carnal mind is hostile to God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. (Romans 8:7-8) God offers you free salvation; he offers you full pardon; he sets before you the inheritance of the children of God. All of those precious promises mean nothing to you as long as you are outside of Christ.
Christ’s Saving Work
There are multitudes that have come to Christ, and they all confess, “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us” (Titus 3:5). Paul wrote to the Christians in Ephesus to remind them, “For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; not of works lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9). Those who are saved do not imagine that their salvation is due to anything in themselves, for “all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6). Rather, God freely justifies believers, not by making them righteous inside, but by pardoning their sins and by accepting and accounting them as righteous for Christ’s sake alone. If you have been
accepted by God, it is not because of anything you have done nor even because of anything done in you, but because God has put Jesus Christ’s righteousness to your account and laid your sins on him. “For he has made him to be sin for us who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).
“…behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” 2 Cor 6:2
So then, do you stand in grace or in wrath? Does God’s gracious favor rest on you? Of all the questions you have been asked in your life, this is the most important. To die outside of the circle of God’s love and grace is to die under his everlasting wrath. There is no other fate awaiting unsaved men but the pit of hell. “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:15). Do not flatter yourself; “it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).
Charles Spurgeon said it this way:
Reader, suppose you should die unsaved, your doom no words can
picture. Write out your dread estate in tears and blood, talk of it
with groans and gnashing of teeth: you will be punished with
everlasting destruction from the glory of the Lord, and from the glory
of his power. A brother’s voice would fain startle you into
earnestness. O be wise, be wise in time, and ere another year begins,
believe in Jesus, who is able to save to the uttermost. Consecrate
these last hours to lonely thought, and if deep repentance be bred in
you, it will be well; and if it lead to a humble faith in Jesus, it
will be best of all. O see to it that this year pass not away, and you
an unforgiven spirit. Let not the new year’s midnight peals
sound upon a joyless spirit! Now, now, NOW believe, and live.
What do Christians believe?
(Defended From Scriptures – Let the Bible speak for itself!)
There is One God
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him.
God Created All Things
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
God Created Human Beings Morally Perfect
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
God Created In His Universe a Perfect Moral Law
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
I John 3:4
So the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good. Did that which is good, then, bring death to me? By no means! It was sin, producing death in me through what is good, in order that sin might be shown to be sin…
People Have Rebelled Against God and Rejected His Law
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
People Have Offended God and are Guilty of Sin
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
There Is No Good Thing People Can Do to Pleases God
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
All People Will Stand in Judgement Before God
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men…
2 Cor 5:10-11
Jesus, The Son of God, Came Into the World To Save Sinners
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
I Tim 1:15
Jesus Lived a Perfect Life and Suffered for the Sins of His People
Christ also suffered for us…Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
1 Pet 2:21-24
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
2 Cor 5:21
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God…
1 Pet 3:18
For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly…God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Jesus Rose From the Dead!
This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
I Cor 15:3-6
Jesus Will Raise All Those That Follow Him
And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.
I Cor 6:14
Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.
2 Cor 4:14
You May Only Be Saved By Repentance From Sin and Faith in Christ
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
DO YOU TURN FROM OBEDIENCE TO SIN UNTO THE OBEDIENCE OF FAITH IN CHRIST AS YOUR SAVIOR AND LORD?
